Membrane/Filter BUSINESS

Membrane

In general, Filtration means separating two or more types of components from a fluid, and the concept of a general filter refers to separating undissolved particles (solids) from a fluid.

On the other hand, the concept of the membrane filter is much more microscopic than the concept of general filtration, and it includes a special function that enables the separation of dissolved-solids or mixed gases.

Membrane separation process is different from general filtration process

  • It has semi-permeable and perm-selectivity.
  • Separation/fraction is possible from Sub-Micron size to the range of molecular weight size range.
  • It is possible to separate gas-gas, gas-liquid and liquid-liquid as well as liquid-gas, gas-solid separation among fluids.

NF Membrane(Nano Filtration, Nano filtration membrane)

Description
Nano compound membranes are divided into microfiltration (MF), ultrafiltration (UF), nanofiltration (NF), and reverse osmosis (RO) membranes according to pore size.
  • Micro-Filtration (MF) : 10-4mm =  0.1  ㎛
  • Ultra-Filtration (UF) : 10-5mm = 0.01 ㎛
  • Nano-Filtration (NF) : 10-6mm =  0.001 ㎛
  • Reverse Osmosis (RO) : 10-7 mm = 0.0001㎛
Characteristics
  • Nanofiltration membranes have intermediate characteristics between reverse osmosis (RO) and ultrafiltration membranes (UF), and have relatively low investment cost, low operating pressure, and high permeability compared to reverse osmosis membranes.
  • In particular, a field in which a higher amount of permeated water is obtained at a lower pressure than a reverse osmosis membrane without requiring a high rejection coefficient such as a reverse osmosis membrane. In other words, it is effective for softening hard water, purification and separation of pharmaceuticals, and food manufacturing processes.

  • 1) Lactose : (In analytical chemistry, chromatographic adsorbents, nutrients, medical sweeteners, baby food ingredients for infant formula, used in fermentation incubators in waste nicillin industry
  • 2) Whey : By-product formed when milk is processed into cheese, skim milk when Whey is removed from milk
  • 3) Pyrogen : Heat factor
  • 4) Lignin : Lignin is synthesized from lignosulfonate and is a raw material such as high performance cement dispersant, special oil filter and pesticide additive, vanillin, ethanol, and xylitol sugar.
